Multimodal 2018 community embraces post-Brexit and digital future
Over 9200 supply chain decision makers visited over 300 exhibitors at the UK and Ireland’s leading transport and logistics show this month
London UK, Tuesday, 22nd May 2018 – Challenges and opportunities in a post-Brexit logistics landscape, as well as digital supply chain innovation, headed the discussion at Multimodal 2018 this month.
The three-day exhibition and seminar series at the Birmingham NEC, provided a platform to network and grow business for over 9200 supply chain decision makers and more than 300 leading transport and logistics companies.
Ninety-two industry thought leaders shared insights on key topics including Blockchain, warehouse robotics, Brexit, air freight opportunities and port strategy during the free-to-attend seminar series.
The FTA Multimodal Awards, held on the evening of the first day, attracted a record number of entries in its four-year history, with more than 650 VIPs attending the gala dinner.
“Multimodal provides an innovative platform for suppliers and buyers to meet, grow business, and learn from the experts, and with so many exhibitors already signed up for next year, we are already looking forward to another great show,” said Robert Jervis, Logistics Portfolio Director, Clarion Events.
“This year, we provided a backdrop for the launch of the NextGen Logistics Network, an online community to support young people as they develop their careers in the industry.
“By bringing together all sectors of the supply chain, the Multimodal community has the power to drive this sort of change and support a better, more efficient industry.”
This year’s show attracted exhibitors from across the supply chain, including DP World, Freightliner, Maritime Transport, and DACHSER.
Multimodal once more teamed up with the United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA), the Freight Transport Association (FTA), the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and the British International Freight Associating (BIFA), to host speakers from companies including John Lewis, American Airlines, DB Schenker, and Maersk Line.
The NextGen Logistics Network was launched with backing from Meantime Communications and Peel Ports, with two panels of young speakers aged between 22 and 30 from Howard Tenens, Heathrow Airport, and Malcolm Logistics.
Next year’s Multimodal will take place between 18th and 20th of June 2019 at the Birmingham NEC.
